For some of us, it is not easy to swallow a tablet or capsule. It can be a bad experience and sometimes determine if we want to take the medicine or not.
A bad experience
Growing up in malaria infested areas, I hated swallowing the medicine called Chloroquine. Boy, was it bitter. When my parents gave it to me, I would sit near the side of a couch. With a glass of water in one hand and two tablets in another, I would pretend to put the tablets in my mouth, take a gulp of water and quickly drop my hand to the side of the couch dropping the pills underneath. Just thinking about the bitter pills sure made me feel better.
So when I became a Pharmacist, I decided to do some research and come up with the best way to swallow a pill and not feel it no matter how big or small, bitter or sour, chalky or yucky. This is what I came up with.
How to swallow a tablet
The good thing is that this approach applies to any phobia you may have about swallowing pills. Maybe you are trying to swallow a very big tablet like Mucinex DM Double Strength or any bitter tasting pills, let’s take a look at the best way to swallow this pill.
